Week 11

This week was to dedicated to finishing our display posters as personal profiles for the exhibition events. these posters are to display our achievements over the years at university. also to show employers our areas in which we believe we are the strongest in and have what it takes to complete work to a professional standard.

here is a copy of the poster which i created and i have sectioned it to 3 different areas which i feel comfortable in completing work to a professional standard. i have chosen Photography, 3D Modelling and Video Production which i belive are my strongest areas within media and what i believe to have done well over the years in my study.

Week 9

Following from the email sent 2 weeks ago there was no response. I did visit built environments but all the lecturers had already gone on easter leave. i did get help from a woman from the marconi building who did a little research for me and found out that i had contacted the wrong person  and that i needed to contact "Andrew Claiborne" who was in the same building and floor. once this information had been received i did try to contact the lecturer but failed to reach him because he was on easter leave.

once we had come back from the easter break i did manage to get a hold of the lecturer and have a verbal agreement with him about the boards and he did ask me to confirm my booking of the boards by sending him and email which is displayed bellow.

The lecturer did agree to lend us the boards but one condition was that we were not allowed to take them off campus which gave us a minor problem because the boards were required in basildon for the weekend. this will mean that students will have to display there work on the boards provided by the art gallery which have only been seen by Project Manager Tracey.

Week 8

The Mezzanine designs where appreciated by the Media group as a whole but some feedback was that "why does it need to be so detailed if its a practice day". This comment seemed relevant which lead me to change the designs dramatically since there was no intention of much footfall.  also the boards which where planned in the first floor plan are not the ones which will be used for the final set up because they have become untraceable at the University. So these new triangular boards will have to be used used instead.

Week 7

This week there has been a little confusion about acquiring the display boards so the email below shows request sent to "Andrew Clayton" which was the original contact given to acquire the boards required for the exhibition.

i will wait for a response so that this minor issue can be resolved. but during next week i will try to visit Built Environments in the Marconi building on the 2nd floor. this is to see if i can have a 1 to 1 conversation with andrew to agree on the dates specified so that time can be saved.

Week 6

From the images taken from last week the SU Bar i have drawn up a first draft of my idea of how the SU Bar should look.

the image above shows a rough outline of the SU Bar. It was agreed the individuals work would be displayed on large boards so there is enough space to show various parts of work depending on the individual. So the floor plan has boxes to show 1 board for each member of the media group in a sort of exhibition format where space is still achieved with an art and ATOM feel to it. also there are projectors and TV monitors which could be used to show videos and on going user profiles. the projector could be used to display the web teams website where employers can interact with and get a sense of what has been created.

The image above shows a rough outline of the Mezzanine and the original idea was to make the exhibition look like an atom shape.  this could be achieved with rope barriers which would give  a more art gallery feel to it. also seeing as we are missing the projector and TV monitors which are available in the SU Bar. There are digital displays which have 3 TV monitors attached to a pole. this can be used to display student profiles and show the motion of the website working. also i was thinking there could be a walkway that leads to the display and work can be displayed in a more art type of way. also since there is lot of space in the mezzanine there could be a projector set up aswell.  one thing that would have to be taken into consideration would be that the mezzanine is a walkway for students and they will be passing by to get to classes so enough room needs to be left over so students can pass.

Week 5

Another week of investigation for me. i went to the Mezzanine to confirm the practice location and show the group the images of the potential space as agreed. these images again will also help me get an idea of how the floor is layer out so i can input my ideas on how the exhibition should be displayed. below are the images taken from the Mezzanine.

Week 4

The SU Bar

This week was more of an investigation for me. i went to the Student Union Bar to confirm the location through images and with these images for me to start to draw up ideas of how to layout the exhibition and consider how work should be displayed. below are the images which where taken from the SU bar.

Week 3

This week the individual groups brainstormed ideas and possible locations for the exhibition event and potential dates which would suit the whole multimedia group. there were a vast amount ideas where the exhibition events could be held. the final decisions where to have 3 event dates in 3 different locations which would work for all members of the multimedia group. the first location was the Mezzanine on the 6th of may at Anglia Ruskin in chelmsford, this was more of a practice day where the exhibition and graphics group would get an insight into how the exhibition would look and if any changes had to be made they could be made before the next dates where potential employers would turn up.

The second date which would have invitations sent to employers and companies inviting them to come to the University and view the exhibition would be 8th of may and would be held in the Student Union Bar again at Anglia Ruskin University. this would be a full day starting from 11 am until 7:30pm giving sufficient time for companies and employers to view the individual work and portfolios on display.

The 3rd and final event dates would be the 9th and 10th of may and the location would be at basildon art gallery where companies and employers and members of the public may go and view the multimedia students portfolio work and gives the group more hope of there work being seen in different location.

Other Locations where discussed and considered but because of time issues only 3 exhibition events could be confidently completed in time for hand in of this module. but other locations consisted of High Chelmer Shopping Centre in Chelmsford town and Chelmsford Library also located in chelmsford town.

The last thing discussed today was potential group names as an identification of the exhibition and for us as students to companies and the general public. it also shows this is one big group project and creativity from all areas of media in which the media group and strong in.

Week 2

This week as a group a discussion took place on how to display work in a creative way which would be unique but also beneficial. The main idea which was agreed upon was to have a sort of art gallery display which relates to Media and is a slightly unique way of displaying varieties of students work. different things such as props and equipment had to be taken into consideration and how the gallery would display work in an efficient and effective manner.

Also potential location ideas was an issue discussed and an agreement by the group leader was to assign duties to other members of the exhibition group to investigate and enquire about potential locations for this exhibition. The individuals would go out and and view potential spaces for the exhibition and enquire whether they where free in the beginning weeks of may. (Dates to be Confirmed).

James Jackson is the Group leader for the Exhibition Group and he would be monitoring and keeping updates about the groups progress. (this was decided in week 1). once the spaces have been acquired it will be my job to visit them and take pictures to show the rest of the Media group through a social group created on Facebook. also these pictures will allow me to create rough floor plans and ideas on how the exhibition should be layer out. from this feedback will be given where a final draft of the floor plans will be drawn up sand agreed on.

Also the whole Multimedia group was given a task to come up with a group name which would be the identification of the Media group as a whole and would show the unity of the group to companies and potential employers.

Week 1

This week was the week in which groups where chosen so that individual tasks could be set to different members of the group, these individual tasks will contribute t the final exhibition day and help bring together a series of exhibition days where the whole media group can come together and display there work to potential employers and to there lecturers for interview.

The group in which i was assigned to was Exhibition which was one of 4 groups to be assigned to. this group consisted of Jamall Abdalla, Carl Larkin, Tracey Clayton , James Jackson, Alex Nicholls and Stewart Pullen. together as a group our main roles is to sort out event dates, exhibition layout, acquiring relevant props such as boards to display work, contacting relevant lecturers and staff to assist in acquiring the relevant props.

The job which was entitled to me was to exhibition design. the job basically means i need to design relevant floor plans related to the locations for the exhibition event. this will allow the group to have some sort of guideline to how work can be displayed at the exhibition, also things like how many posters can be displayed on 1 board and how much space there will be for potential employers and lecturers to move around the exhibition.

This job will require some field work so that the space can be seen and a rough guideline can be drawn up on the areas and locations chosen by the group to have the exhibition events take place.
